Local Tip: Le Soleil is a reflection of everything I love about Acadiana — the food, the culture, the people who welcome you like family. It’s a space that feels like home; where every meal and every gathering reminds you why this place is so special. (Richard Burleigh)
Local Tip: Beau Lane Boutique is just one of those little treasures you’re proud to have in a town like Maurice. It's where you go when you want to feel pretty without feeling like you’re trying too hard. They’ve got cute tops, good jeans, dresses for when you wanna dress up a little, and comfy stuff for everyday. (Simonne Thomas)
Local Tip: Coffeeweed Cottage is just one of those special places you feel good walking into. It's cozy, it’s beautiful, and you can tell everything in there was picked with so much heart. LOCAL LINGO
"Cher" (pronounced “sha”) — A term of endearment, like "sweetheart" or "darlin'." You'll hear it everywhere.
"Laissez les bons temps rouler" — It means "Let the good times roll" — basically the unofficial motto around here.
"Lagniappe" (pronounced “lan-yap”) — A little something extra. Think bonus fries at the bottom of the bag or an extra boudin ball from the cook.
"Making groceries" — Just means grocery shopping. (You'll sound local if you say it that way.)
"Sha baby" — A sweet way of calling someone adorable, often said about little kids... or puppies.

PRO TIPS
Bring a lawn chair and a koozie. You'll thank yourself at festivals like Festival Acadiens et Créoles or any outdoor concert at Parc International.
Keep a small ice chest in your trunk. Perfect for hauling back fresh seafood from a roadside shrimp stand.
Follow local musicians on social media. Bands like The Revelers and Roddie Romero post pop-up shows you won’t find advertised anywhere else.
Always check event rules before you go. Some festivals allow BYOB (like parts of Mardi Gras parades), some don't — save yourself the headache.
Hit up the small towns. Breaux Bridge, Arnaudville, and St. Martinville have killer food, art galleries, and way fewer crowds than Lafayette hotspots.
