Meet the Calabro Family

When you drive up 400 and leave the city, you find a hidden treasure. Milton, Georgia was founded in 2006 but found our hearts years before that. Milton has the charm of country living with the pleasures of the city life close by, which we love.

One of my favorites of country life is the local cuisine grown on properties that restaurants use in their meals. Milton’s Cocktails and Cuisine is a great local place to eat situated in a 150 year old farmhouse and 1930’s cottage.  Many of their dishes are served with vegetables from their garden. Speaking of their garden, they have the most amazing Farm to Table meals once a month in the summer and early fall, an event you don’t want to miss!

Another local garden to table place is 7 Acre Grill which is part of the Sedgwick Restaurant Group, (Pure Taqueria, Made Kitchen and Cocktails, The Union). They use many locally source ingredients when possible.  It is located in Buice’s old General store from 1930.

We joined White Columns Country Club, part of Club Corp, years ago and love all the family friendly events they have. They have amazing holiday parties such as Boo Bash, Fireworks at Atlanta National Country Club or brunch with Santa at the Manor. We have made amazing friendships through their events and it is a great way to meet new people if you are new to the area.

Avalon is a great place to grab a drink, dinner or shop. There is literally something there for everyone. They have an inside playground located near Kona Grill. Check out in the spring–fall on Wednesdays at 10 am they have Acorn time for young children. Each week has a different theme and is free.

Milton will have the Crabapple Festival, which has local vendors, food trucks and fun activates for the kids.

The city of Alpharetta is also a fun place to shop and eat.  Food Truck Alley in Alpharetta is always fun from April-October. Behind South Main Kitchen, they host different local food trucks each week and entertainment for the kids.

Want to be sure to see snow in December? Be sure to check out Alpharetta Christmas, which is always a fun event in downtown Alpharetta. They have fake snow, a tree lightening, locals singing and playing jolly music.

One of my favorite local businesses is Scottsdale Farms. They have classes during the week there for adults and children; sell plants, pumpkins and Christmas Trees.

To be sure you don’t miss any of the fun happenings around the area, be sure to check out a local social media page I run, https://www.facebook.com/Miltonmomsfamilyfunaroundatl or on instagram www.instagram.com/miltonmomsfamilyfunaroundatl where I post about local businesses, family fun and places to eat each week.

Milton and Alpharetta both have small town charm while embracing their big southern hearts to make your life here a place ya’ll will never want to leave.
