Cherokee Park consists of 409 acres of open meadow, creeks, woods, and pollinator gardens. The park’s best feature is a large walking loop, and there are designated spaces for archery, basketball, golf, hiking, events, playgrounds, a sprayground, and restrooms.

As a gift to all lovers of nature, Virginia Creasey Mahan and Howard Mahan established the Preserve on their farm in 1975. Upon its 168 acres are winding trails lush with all varieties of trees, wildflowers and shrubs. Woodlands, wetlands and meadows of native grasses, springs, songbirds, and a meandering stream share the land with wildlife, their colonial home, creek stone springhouse, and a large playground area.

Nestled within the Briar Hill neighborhood on the east side of Crestwood, Briar Hill Park is 52 acres of mostly wooded preserve. Peggy Baker Park is a haven for baseball fanatics with lighted baseball fields. The Park also boasts a paved walking trail and dog park. The Maples Park is a 22-acre park known as “The Maples” due to the abundant maple trees along the former entry road. It has lots of greenspace, farm buildings, paved paths, playground, a splashpark, and covered picnic tables.

Five times as large as New York’s Central Park, The Parklands of Floyd’s Fork is one of the largest donor-supported public park systems in the country. Here in Louisville’s backyard, the Parklands offers four unique parks covering nearly 4,000 acres. Escape to the Parklands for walking and biking paths, recreational fields, playgrounds, splash pads, and a dog park. Open from dawn till dusk every day.
