Originally from just outside Philadelphia in New Jersey, I made the move to Florida in 2010 and quickly fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle. I remember standing in my new home, full of questions: What can I plant that will survive this heat and humidity? Who can I trust to help remodel this place? Where are the best doctors? And seriously—where’s the post office?
Like many newcomers, we fumbled our way through getting settled and figuring out how to live like locals. It wasn’t always easy, but it was worth it.
