Meet The DeHarts

The DeHart Family: Rooted in Community, Growing with Gratitude

Chris and Kellee DeHart may not both be Wilmington natives, but coastal Carolina has always felt like home. Chris moved to the area when he was just nine months old, after his mom followed her dream of living near the ocean. Though his family is originally from Ashland, Kentucky, Chris grew up with sandy toes and a love for the coast. Kellee, raised in the snowy Poconos, happily traded in her winter coat for sunshine when she chose UNCW for college.

Their story began in 2002 at a place many of us remember fondly—Blockbuster Video. After graduation, Kellee started working at PPD while Chris’s National Guard unit (the 30th Brigade) was deployed to Iraq. When he returned, the couple settled down in Leland, bought their first home, and began building the life they love today.

They’re now raising two amazing kids who keep them inspired and busy. Their daughter, Alison, was born in 2010 and just finished her freshman year at North Brunswick High. A straight-A student and soccer standout, she was named MVP and even set a school record by scoring four goals in one game. She's been passionate about the sport since age five, often coached by her dad, and when she’s not on the field, you’ll likely find her enjoying San Felipe Mexican or Eggs Up Grille.

Their son, Brayden, born in 2012, is headed into 8th grade at Classical Charter Schools of America. He keeps things exciting with his love of Taekwondo, flag football, Boy Scouts, and video games. Brayden has severe food allergies, which can make eating out a challenge—but his favorites are Moe’s Southwest Grill and Chipotle. His go-to dessert? A trip to Spikes in Southport. He also shares a love of fishing with Chris and proudly made it into the Fisherman’s Post after landing a huge citation drum.

Chris and Kellee love exploring the area as a couple too. Their go-to date night spots include Oliver’s on the Cape Fear and Joseph’s Italian Bistro in Southport. For something quick, they often grab Tropical Smoothie Café. Kellee loves long beach walks collecting shells, while Chris is most at home on the water. Since 2010, Chris has owned All About Energy Solutions, a local insulation company specializing in everything from crawlspaces to attics.

One of their most memorable moments came just after selling their second home—right as Hurricane Florence hit. Kellee asked, “If you could live anywhere, where would it be?” Chris didn’t hesitate: “Right here.” For them, this community offers everything—laughter at Dead Crow Comedy, concerts at Odell Williamson, and a deep sense of belonging.

With over 20 years of homeownership in Brunswick County, the DeHarts have built a life they truly love. Whether they’re cheering from the sidelines, fishing in the marsh, or bowling at Planet Fun (don’t miss the drive-in there!), their roots are strong, and their hearts are full.

To any new families just settling in, the DeHarts have this to say: Congratulations on making one of the best decisions of your life. You’re going to love it here.
