From My Home to Yours, Welcome to the Valley

I’ve called the San Fernando Valley home since 2001. In 25 years, I’ve watched it change, grow, reinvent itself, and somehow still hold onto the character that made me fall in love with it in the first place.
There’s a rhythm to life here that you come to know. Quiet mornings walking through shadows of palm trees. The steady movement of Ventura Boulevard in the middle of the day. Warm evenings when the sun drops behind the Santa Monica Mountains and, for a moment, the whole Valley seems to slow down. Each neighborhood has its own personality. Sherman Oaks feels different from Studio City. Encino gives way to Tarzana, and farther west, The bookends of North Hollywood and Woodland Hills have an energy all its own. Yet together, they share something that can be difficult to describe until you’ve spent some time here. The Valley feels connected. It feels lived in. And most importantly, it feels like home.
One of the things I’ve loved most about creating BeLocal is getting to experience my own community with fresh eyes. After 25 years here, I’m still discovering restaurants I haven’t tried, businesses I didn’t know existed, trails I haven’t walked, and stories I hadn’t heard. It has reminded me that you can live somewhere for decades and still have more to explore.  That’s what I hope to share with you in these pages.
BeLocal is my opportunity to welcome you to a place I genuinely love and introduce you to some of the people, businesses, food, neighborhoods, and experiences that make this part of Los Angeles special. Some have been here for generations. Others are just beginning their story. Together, they are part of a Valley that is constantly evolving while remaining unmistakably itself. If you’re new here, you’ll soon start finding your own places. Your coffee spot. Your favorite table. Your weekend walk. The business you trust. The shortcut you swear nobody else knows.  And eventually, without really noticing when it happened, this place starts to become yours too. After 25 years, I’m still discovering my home and I’m excited to help you discover yours.  Welcome to the Valley!
