Historic Town Hall Building in Pataskala

Historical town hall building in Pataskala:
Built-in 1916 for less than $20,000, this building had offices for the  Mayor and Council, the Village Jail and Marshall, the Library, and the Volunteer Fire Department. On the second floor, the 313-seat Sterling Theater was used by the Pataskala High School for many years for plays, as a theater, and for public meetings. The National Register for Historic Places listed it in 1983. The building, seriously neglected and in disrepair, was renovated by the City and a local citizens group concentrating on the Theater.

Historic covered bridge at Sycamore Creek Park:
The popular covered bridge at Sycamore Creek Park started out as the Zeller-Smith Bridge built on Busey Road in 1906 to span Sycamore Creek. It is built in the Queenpost style and spans 73 feet.
The bridge was closed in 1985 after it was damaged by an overweight truck. Since it was one of the few remaining covered bridges in Violet Township, a group of local residents, and trustees, bridge association members, and engineers, worked to raise $14,500 to move and restore the bridge at another site.
Pickerington offered a spot for the bridge in Sycamore Creek Park, and a "Save the Covered Bridge Rally" was held on Aug. 25, 1986, and the funds needed to complete the project were raised. The bridge was lifted off its foundation and trucked down Pickerington-Lockville Road to its new home on Sunday, Sept. 7, 1986. Today the  Zeller-Smith covered bridge serves as a footbridge across a creek to the Arboretum in Pickerington's Sycamore Creek Park. It is a favorite location for walking, photography, and occasional wedding ceremonies.
The park surrounding the bridge is popular for its playgrounds and walking paths and fishing in the summer and sledding when it snows!
