Heritage Rail Trail
Stretches about 30 miles from York City to the Maryland state line, offering scenic paths suitable for walking, cycling, and horseback riding. The trail features historic sites, including Civil War-era railroad stations and the Howard Tunnel, one of the oldest active railroad tunnels in the U.S. This ADA-accessible trail connects to the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail in Maryland.
Rocky Ridge Park
3699 Deininger Road, York, PA
York County’s first county park spans 750 acres. It features more than 12 miles of multi-use trails, scenic observation decks with views of the Susquehanna and York Valleys, and various recreational areas, including a Nature Fun Zone, disc golf, and fitness trail. The park is also known for its annual Christmas Magic event, a festive light show on a half-mile walking trail.
Apollo Park

This park covers 340 acres along the Susquehanna River and has hiking, fishing, and nature observation. The park includes several miles of trails, some with steep terrain, making it ideal for more adventurous hikers. Gifford Pinchot State Park

With 79 acres of open space and a 360-degree view of the Susquehanna River and surrounding countryside, the park features a steep, one-mile trail leading to the scenic overlook. It’s a peaceful spot ideal for picnicking and catching a beautiful sunset.
Codorus State Park
2600 Smith Station Road, Hanover, PA
Featuring the 1,275-acre Lake Marburg, ideal for boating, fishing, and birdwatching, this park includes more than 19 miles of hiking trails, camping facilities, and a disc golf course. It also has a swimming pool, picnic areas, and opportunities for winter activities like ice skating and cross-country skiing. This large lake offers pet-friendly areas where dogs can swim and cool off on a hot day.
William Kain Park

Has 1,637 acres of outdoor recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, and hiking around Lake Williams and Lake Redman. The surrounding park offers boat rentals and quiet spots for shore fishing as well as more than 12 miles of multi-use trails, picnic areas, and pavilions. Mason-Dixon Trail System
This 200-mile trail connects the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania to the Brandywine Trail in Delaware. The approximately 50-mile stretch in York County winds through scenic landscapes along the Susquehanna River with diverse terrain, including woodlands, fields, and rocky outcrops.
