The Stuart/Martin County area has so much to offer in the way of boating/watersports with its miles of ocean and Intracoastal shoreline. It is considered the sailfish capital of the world! The Intracoastal Waterway, which connects New Jersey to Texas, runs through Martin County, before branching off to go west across the state. This portion of the Intracoastal Waterway is known as the Okeechobee Waterway and is the only way you can get across the state of Florida by water.

Our offshore fishing gives you many options – you can troll for mahi mahi, sailfish, wahoo, or mackerel. Further, you can bottom fish our many reefs and wrecks for grouper, snapper, cobia, sea bass, and many other species. Do you prefer inshore fishing? We have plenty of snook, trout, pompano, bonefish, snapper, mackerel, and tarpon. We even have freshwater fishing on the Okeechobee Waterway, which holds largemouth bass, as well as snook and tarpon! Travel the Okeechobee Waterway into Lake Okeechobee, and you will find bluegill, crappie, and red ear sunfish.

Fishing is just the tip of the iceberg! Martin County has many sandbars and two islands for sunbathing, swimming, watersports or just getting away from it all. If you travel south on the Intracoastal Waterway, you will find the Saint Lucie Inlet State Park and Nature Center. Just travel a few miles south of there, and you come to Peck Lake Park where you can beach your boat on the riverbank and walk over the dune to your own secluded beach on the ocean.

If you prefer to dine by boat, downtown Stuart has a wonderful floating dock with many public slips where you can dock your boat and find any type of food your pallet calls out for!
